Experience

Upon graduating from Jacksonville State University in December of 2006, I began teaching in the Tuscaloosa Alternative School (Special Education Aide) at Northridge High School. From August 2007 to May of 2009 I taught at Greensboro West High School (Corrective Math & AHSGE Remediation in Reading) in the Hale County School System. In August of 2009 I began teaching in the Sumter County School System at Livingston Junior High School (8th Grade World History) under Mr. Milton H. Whitfield. I was moved to Sumter County High School in August of 2010 (12th grade Government/Economics and 9th grade World History) under Mr. Milton H. Whitfield. In August of 2011 I transitioned to Sumter Central High School under Mr. Eric F. Hines where I have taught 10th grade (U. S. History I) and 11th grade (U. S. History II and AP U.S. History).

During the 2012-2013 school year I assisted in the writing of a grant at the Alabama State Department of Education. In June of 2013 I was a presenter at the AETC Conference in Birmingham, Alabama ("Using Ipads and Apps in the Classroom Setting"). I have served and been recognized in various capacities during my tenure in the Sumter County School System including: Chair of the RtI team, Chair of the Faculty Council, Cheerleader Coach (2010-2013), Teacher of the Year (2011-2012), CCRS lead teacher, Teacher Mentor, and the Blue Ribbon Excellence in Teaching Award (2013-2014). I was also awarded the Student's Teacher Choice Award in 2018.
